Description
The dandelion is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows to a height of 10 cm to 30 cm and contains a white milk juice in all parts. Its fleshy taproot, up to 1 meter (rarely up to 2 meters) long, is dark brown to black on the outside. It merges into a short, heavily compressed stem axis, on which the leaves are dense in a basic rosette. After an injury to the vegetation point, the plant regenerates from the root and then usually forms several leaf rosettes. The 10 to 30 cm long leaves are ovate to ovate-lanceolate, irregularly lobed and deeply incised and serrated. Incisions and teeth are strong from the base up to about two thirds of the length, often less pronounced further to the tip of the leaf.
